Pediatric (Kids) assessment

Pediatric (Kids) assessment

Children assessments are popular at the clinic as they determine abnormalities at a young age. The younger the child is, the easier they are to treat. The Assessment involves looking at the childs walking patterns (if they intoe when they walk, flat feet or knocked kneed), Bone and Muscle strength tests, Tibial torsion tests. Pediatric screenings and check-ups are highly advised for all children, especailly if there is a history in the family of lower limb and feet problems (bunions, flat feet, arthritis etc)

 Lower Limb Moblisation

Lower Limb Moblisation

At times, the joints in the lower limb (hip, knees, ankles etc) sublux due to ligament weakness or trauma. They need to be re-positioned. This techniques is used to align the joints of the lower limb so they may work in congruency with one another. This helps keep the bodies structures aligned and working together. Also helps reduce wear and tear of the joints

Ingrown Nail Surgery

Ingrown Nail Surgery

Patients with chronic ingrown toe nails or re-occuring ingrown nails may need surgery to free and correct the ingrown nail. Nail surgery is conducted under local anesthetic for patient with ingrown toe nails. Patients are advised to seek antibiotics a week prior and after the surgery.

General treatments

General treatments

Some patient require general treatments, which include nail care, callus and corn debridement and general assessment and advice on footcare. Education also given on proper shoe-wear, gait and fall prevention. Medicare EPC plans and DVA patients accepted with no gap payments.

Diabetic assessment & screen

Diabetic assessment & screen

Should be conducted annually and used for patients with diabetes and/or arterial problems. Involves a range of tests: Observation test of feet and legs, Arterial blood flow tests of the lower limb, Vibration and sensation tests, Motor tests, Ulcer-Risk assessments, Pressure tests and education. These tests are vital in determining lower-limb complication in patients with diabetes.

Acupuncture & Dry needling

Acupuncture & Dry needling

Dry needling is a very effective tool in treating muscle strains and pains, trigger points, swelling, adhesions, injuries to ligaments and joint pains. It mainly works by promoting blood flow to a certain area and breaking down scare tissue, freeing the structures and promoting repair. It is very effective when combined with orthotic therapy

Custom Orthotics

Custom Orthotics

Orthotics are customs insoles made according to the patients foot. They can be used in various ways and used to treat a wide variety of conditions. Some can be made to accommodate the foot, others to support and others to correct the foot in it's natural and neutral position, which aligns the body and its structures. Orthotics can also off-load pressure points and forces off certain parts of the foot and other parts of the body, like the knee and hip. Most of the common conditions seen in the clinic can be treated with orthotic therapy.

Biomechanical assessment

Biomechanical assessment

This invloved a full assessment of the patients feet, ankles, knees and hips. The Assessment invloves looking at the patients bone structure, muscles, joints, stability and alignment. An Assessment is normally conducted to determine the cause of pain and as a diagnostic tool. It is also used to determine possible abnormalities that may give rise to other conditions, like flat feet giving rise to knee pain etc. Walking analysis is also conducted during the assessment.

SHOCKWAVE THERAPY

MECHANISM OF ACTION

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Shockwave is an acoustic wave which carries high energy to painful spots and myoskeletal tissues with subacute, subchronic and chronic conditions. The energy promotes regeneration and reparative processes of the bones, tendons and other soft tissues.
Shockwaves are characterized by jump change in pressure, high amplitude and non-periodicity.
The kinetic energy of the projectile, created by compressed air, is transferred to the transmitter at the end of the applicator and further into the tissue.

MEDICAL USE

MEDICAL USE

Acoustic waves with high energy peak used in Shockwave therapy interact with tissue causing overall medical effects of accelerated tissue repair and cell growth, analgesia and mobility restoration. All the processes mentioned in this section are typically employed simultaneously and are used to treat chronic, sub-acute and acute (advanced users only) conditions.
This includes heel pain, plantarfasciitis, ankle sprains and much more.
